Doors Open Day 2013 attracted over 2,000 visitors to The Glasgow Gurdwara, Scotland’s first purpose built Sikh centre.
In partnership with Glasgow Doors Open Day, this was the first time The Glasgow Gurdwara has participated in this landmark event. The iconic architecture of the £4 million building received enthusiastic attention from all over Scotland. Each visitor was given a guided tour by the Young Sikh Leaders volunteer team, who answered questions about the Sikh tradition and passionately spoke about Scottish Sikh history.
Sandeep Dhesi, 16, pupil at a Glasgow high school said,
“Promoting the services of The Glasgow Gurdwara is really important for our community. The Gurdwara is not just for Sikhs but a centre for everyone and anyone can come and share a vegetarian meal or learn a language or skill, for free.”
A visitor commented on the day,
Best thing I’ve done in the 4 years I have lived in Glasgow! Thank you very much!”
Ms. Masterson commented,
“It was our favourite visit of all the places we saw over the weekend and we were made to feel incredibly welcome by everyone there.”
