#ScottishVaisakhi Celebrated as Thousands Gather in Glasgow
The Annual Glasgow City Procession brought together thousands of people from diverse and vibrant communities to celebrate the festival of Vaisakhi.
Every year, the Scottish Sikh community organises an open, community celebration which brings together the Southside and West End of Glasgow.
Charandeep Singh, General Secretary, Glasgow Gurdwara, said,
“Celebrating the Festival of Vaisakhi is always a highlight for Scottish Sikhs and has a special place in all our hearts as it has the ability to bring people together from all different backgrounds and communities.
“The procession lasted just over 4 hours and from start to finish accounted for almost 25,000 individual steps.
“We wish everyone a Happy Vaisakhi 2016 and hope that we all imbibe the values of the Sikh Nation into our lives.”
So Vaisakhi was celebrated in huge numbers but what’s it all about anyway?
