Scotland’s first purpose built Gurdwara has been shortlisted as a Finalist in two categories at the inaugural Inspiring City Awards which celebrates the people and organisations that make Glasgow great.

The Gurdwara, which attracted up to 10,000 visitors on the opening day, is an iconic piece of architecture adding to the beauty of Glasgow’s skyline.

The awards are Supported by Glasgow’s new city brand – PEOPLE MAKE GLASGOW – which rewards individuals and organisations who have gone beyond the call of duty to encourage, mentor and support investment and growth in Glasgow.

The £4 million investment by the Scottish Sikh community is making a visible difference to the lives of individuals by providing education, cultural and social services to the Southside and wider community.

Gurjit Singh, member of the Executive Committee commented,

“The Glasgow Gurdwara has created a true community hub for members of the whole community and we are delighted to be Finalists at the Inspiring City Awards 2013.”
